I don’t know about other editors, but for me there’s something amazing about knowing stories I chose from the slushpile actually earned kudos from a reviewer. That’s what happened this month with Penumbra eMag’s Bradbury issue. I admit I only chose the top 9 or 10 stories for Editor in Chief Celina Summers to select the final issue from, but she picked all my favorites (without me telling her which ones I liked the best).
So when she forwarded me the Tangent Online review, I bounced off the walls. I love that these authors and these stories are getting the attention they deserve. If any issue of Penumbra eMag is award-worthy, this one is. There was just something about the stories that captured my imagination.
Our feature story for the issue was “The Driver” by S.S. Chapman. The other stories are:
“The Slide” by Davyne DeSye
“A House in the Woods” by Samuel Marzioli
“Livestock” by Sean Houlihan
“Guy” by T.D. Edge
Every month Penumbra eMag has a fantastic selection of fiction, and sometimes poetry. As I wrap up editing on the February Zombie Apocalypse issue, I find myself amazed again at how much detail and passion these authors wrap up in such little stories. If you like short fiction and haven’t had a chance to see our magazine, please stop by and pick up a copy. Each issue is only $3.99 and subscriptions are only $36.00 a year. We’re packaging up some freebies for current and new subscribers. Anyway, give our authors some love. Read and review their stories for yourself. I’m sure they would appreciate the feedback.
