GenCon Bound and Other Cons

I am officially GenCon bound. I registered Sunday, got housing today (at my first hotel choice, no less), and am volunteered to help run some Shadowrun games. I’m hoping I get a chance to write something for the convention, but if not, it’s not a big deal.

In the meantime, I’m also debating on whether I should run a non-Shadowrun game or two on the side. Part of it depends on what my volunteer load will be and whether or not I can bribe someone into letting me on a panel or three. I also want to try out some non-SR events (really hoping someone has the new Doctor Who RPG, or maybe I’ll sit down and read my rules so I can run that @=). I’d love to sit in on Settlers of Catan if I can find an open seat at the booth (there were none in 2011, sadly).

I’m also heading out to the Cascade Writers Workshop where I will be talking about editing, writing, and accepting pitches for Musa Publishing’s Urania imprint (speculative fiction only, folks. No erotica or regency, etc. as those are not the lines I work). There are a lot of talented folks going to be there too. If you’re in the area, come say hi!

I really hope to meet a lot of new people and see a lot of old friends at both of these events. There’s nothing nearly as fun as getting together with a group of like-minded people and just chatting about “stuff.”

Anyway, that’s this year’s big convention plans. What are yours?
