Wow. Just as I’m getting down, things start picking up.
A tech buddy on another forum just pointed me to an old science fiction book I’ve never read. Sounds really interesting. A must-read for any sci-fi fan or writer. Colossus by Dennis Feltham Jones. You can read about it here on Wikipedia.
Last month, I pushed three subs of previously written, newly polished, work out to a new mag. Didn’t hear back and suddenly the first issue was published. So, here I am thinking “Ah, non-response reject market.” Today, I get notification they’re reviewing the first piece and please not to be sending it off to anyone else because “we don’t do simultaneous submissions.” @WHEEEEE! I feel so loved.
And yeah, I can still get rejected. But it’s nice to know I wasn’t forgotten after all.
Lots and lots of good reviews of “Tied In” have been coming up. Nobody has said glowing things about my chapter, but nobody’s said bad things either. The best I’ve gotten is a couple of nameless mentions of “Oh, and they even tell you…” Which, is better than bad and better than nothing.
Speaking of reviews, the best one I’ve ever got was “It’s a Swindle story. It’s a Swindle story! Marry me, Brandie.” I think that’s a good review anyway. So, what’s the best or worst review you’ve ever gotten of your work? I’d love to hear the stories.
Lastly, does anyone else hate the new Google jumpy-jitters-while-typing interface? It’s driving me CRAZY! Leave it in one spot, please. Either at the top of the screen or in the middle, or jump AFTER I hit “search.” But for deities’ sake, do not move it while I’m typing. ARGH. ‘Nuff said. Off the soapbox now.
