Oh the agony of being a professional author and not having a day job. Lots of people think full time writers are rich, but unfortunately, that’s not true. Many writers spend a lot of time writing for little money and then, when they get sick, find themselves in a bind because they don’t have health insurance.
Yes, folks, the health insurance crisis does affect the self-employed. Rarely are people able to afford insurance without the subsidies given to them by an employeer and sometimes not even then. The reason I bring this up?
Aaron Allston, media tie-in writer and all around nice guy, had a heart attack during a book tour and needed emergency surgery for a quadruple bypass. He made it through the surgery fine, but now the bills are coming in and he needs help. So I’m passing along the word. Here’s a website link that gives all the details: http://theswivet.blogspot.com/2009/07/help-writer-aaron-allston-out-with-his.html
Any help would be appreciated. If nothing else, bid in the planned online auction. Thanks in advance!
