A few VP veterans I know corrected me on the Viable Paradise info. It’s not nearly one-on-one instruction as I assumed. Apparently the class size depends on how science fiction or fantasy heavy the class is. One veteran I talked to said all 28 students were in the class while another said there were 18 and the other 10 were in the other class.
Still, people are broken up into groups of about 8 and you get your full novel (or set of short stories) critiqued by everyone, so that’s cool. And there are social hours were you actually get to discuss the craft (or anything else) with the pros. So that’s even cooler.
And then I got an email from VP saying they’d received my manuscript and would email me again when they received my manuscript. Huh? I think what that meant is they got my email copy and would email me again when they got the hard copy (you have to send both), but the phrasing was a little weird.
Work’s been hectic, so I haven’t had much writing luck this week. My big thing was 1299 words on Sunday and then another 500 words yesterday for a story synopsis. I’m querying people like crazy. Sent in a submission to Fantasy & Science Fiction in addition to a comic proposal to a European comic company. Now I just have to finish the last 2 & 1/2 chapters of my novel and back fill all the interesting other bits I’ve come up with along the way.
