Maybe it’s just me, but as hard as it is to write a whole novel, writing a synopsis is worse. I’ve spent four days pouring over mine, trying to figure out what to say. So many things happen in my book that I have no idea which is necessary for the synopsis and which is padding. And when you have a piece that involves an ensemble cast, deciding who is most important is nearly impossible.
Of course, after spending all day writing finishing off a 2000 word synopsis (7 pages in 10 point Courier, double-spaced), I now have to cut it down to 2 pages max.
Sigh. Some days I wonder about myself. Do other people actually torture themselves this way on purpose? Or am I just twisted that way?
