Blog: My Writerly To-Do List

As I travel to the RainForest Writers Retreat, I'm going over my to-do list. Oy, it's a hum-dinger.

Works in progress:

Circle of Fire – High/Epic Fantasy novel (in revision)
Loving Amber – Memoir rewrite
Slipping Thru the Cracks – YA Fantasy & Latchkeys episode (in final pre-editor draft)
Not So Super Tuesday – Shadowrun Mission (redo outline for Dev approval)
Sidekicked – Comic Fantsy (new)
Liars, Lutes, and Leafy Greens – Comic Fantasy (new)

Submission proposal possibilities:

Possible Battletech Submission (do I have time?)
Possible Shadowrun eBook Submission (again, do I have time?)

Story ideas that need developed:

Unnamed steampunk novelette (same world as Silk and Steam)
Truth, Like Beauty – Contemporary Fantasy
Prequel & Sequel to The Hunt for Liberty Jones – Science Fiction

Miscellaneous:

Send Bio to Buzzy Magazine and check with my sister to see if she's got artwork for Feast of the Torn ready.
Get business cards printed
Get new website programmed and set up
Editorial internship with Musa Publishing (what have I done to myself???) and miscellaneous chores assigned to me
Article for The Bulletin (SFWA's magazine)
Editing & laying out of March Issue of Tied-In (IAMTW's magazine)

I've been fighting with the memoir for a while now, trying to convince it that it really wants to be a longer book the size of other memoirs. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to want to go that direction, so I may be stuck with a short memoir to submit to publishers. Loving Amber is a beautiful piece that deserves publication if I can finish whipping it into shape. Circle of Fire I have an agent invitation for, as soon as I finish revising the darned thing.

Sidekicked and Liars, Lutes, & Leafy Greens are both novels I've had in my head for years now, but I'm determined to wait on starting them until I actually finish Circle of Fire. But I've gotten so busy, that I do not have time to do both my day job, my editing, and my writing all the same time. Still, I'm determined to finish either CoF or LA this week. After all, I am told internet access will be next to impossible, which means no goofing off. So, wish me luck, folks, and I'll see you on the other side of the retreat.

I hope.

If you see a dazed author wandering around the rain forest with a laptop crying "the interwebz, I needz them!" feel free to turn me around, point me back to the resort and say "Go write, young author!"
