Oh, my. I just found out this weekend that despite all my publishing credits that I’m still eligible to enter the Writers of the Future contest.
Apparently it’s not about getting paid, it’s about getting paid actual professional rates with a high-circulation publication. So any pro sale I may make doesn’t count unless it’s published. Love Me Knot is my second pro sale. The contest says the max is 3, paid & published. Time’s running out, so I uploaded my story for this quarter. My first entry ever. Wish me luck.
Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back after the quarter is over?
In that spirit, I’m working on a little mini-contest to give away two copies of the new Blue Kingdoms anthology, Mages and Magic. My story "Locke-Down" is in it. As soon as I have the contest details worked out in my head, I’ll announce it. In the meantime, Blue Kingdoms: Mages and Magic is available on Amazon as hard copy and in Kindle format, as well as in Nook format and ebook on Smashwords.
Now I have to go head down to finish my latest Catalyst project, ahead of schedule, I hope. And then proofing, and then I’ve got to finish up my research on Spina Bifida and H.U.S. Yes, my life is becoming very interesting of late. I need to find support groups for S.B. and H.U.S., and figure out how to contact doctors and nurses who have dealt with both. I have lots of questions.
