Busy busy busy

I have no excuse for not updating my journal except for the fact that I’ve been extremely busy. I have a short story sub for an anthology that I absolutely MUST get done by the end of the month. Another short story sub for a second anthology that I should have written ages ago. Plus I have two more on the very near horizon.

I was accepted into Viable Paradise and will get to have my novel (or novel synopsis and first chapter) critiqued by established writers and other aspiring writers. Whoohoo! Martha’s Vineyard. 1 whole week of insanity. Gotta love it.

I have 3 articles I need to write up for SQLServerCentral.com. I was interviewed for SFWA’s Bulletin magazine and for the IAMTW’s Tied-In newsletter. I am now a moderator on SFWA’s new forum site (Sorry, you have to be a SFWA member to join the forum) and am busy collecting rejections for my short story "Bastille Day" and my novel.

On the other hand, I’ve had 1 partial request and 1 full manuscript request out of 10 agents so far. That’s encouraging. On the third hand, though, people keep telling me epic fantasy isn’t selling. And I don’t want to do trendy urban / vampire stories. I firmly believe that now is the worst time to try and break into that market because everyone is trying. Therefore, if I don’t have something so completely different and out of the ballpark, it won’t even get the consideration my epic fantasy is getting.

And yes, I apparently have three hands. Comes in handy when trying to juggle… well, juggle anything really. @=) Now all I need is a clone to help with the writing & programming and I’ll be set.
