So much to do, so little time

Two Saturdays ago, I went down to Orlando with a bunch from my local writing group. We attended Oasis, a convention with many writing panels and guests such as Peter David, John Ringo and Toni Weisskopf (Publisher at Baen).

Right after that, I took off for Pasadena, CA for BotCon, the official Transformers convention. I had so many plans, only half of which got executed. But I had a ton of fun. I met several fellow writers, at both conventions, got to party at Paramount’s back lot & meet a lot of new friends, plus I was able to antique shop and connect with old friends. And I wrote down several new ideas for stories.

The agent search continues. I initially queried two (my top choices) and received a politely worded rejected from on, but only two days after I received a request for a partial manuscript from the other. So, the rejection didn’t depress me nearly as much as it might have. I was bouncing all through the week.

Now I have a two month wait to see if the agent with the partial wants to see a full. I’m still researching agents, but I’m not going to go full-bore querying until I hear back from this agent. In the meantime, I have plenty to keep me busy. I’m doing a piece for the Official Transformers Collectors Club, plus I have two shorts to submit for anthologies (spec work, which means neither is a guaranteed publishing contract) and several other people who are looking for spec work.

One last thing. While researching, I found the following guest blog on Kristen Nelson’s "PubRants". It’s a great link on writing backstories. I advise anyone who hasn’t seen it to read it. http://pubrants.blogspot.com/2009/05/black-sheep-of-fiction-writingguest.html
