Rewrites, Wonderful Rewrites

Well, I’m into my second (or is it third?) draft of my fantasy novel. May have to change my title, depending on what I end up with. I’m filling in the plot holes, fleshing out some characters, dropping some scenes at the end that kind of buried my protagonist, etc.

I’m also in the midst of an agent hunt. I’m in the middle of research phase. Haven’t sent out queries yet. I want to make sure to start with agents who represent the exact type of fantasy I’m currently writing. Then, if they say no, I’ll move on down the list.

Lalalala. Ain’t life fun?

I submitted an article for the IAMTW’s "Tied-In" newsletter. The editor really liked it, so it should be coming out soon. I’m thrilled about that. "The Quickest Way to Get Rejected" is the title. I’m going to submit another one soon titled "The Worst Advice Ever" or something similar. I think she’ll like that one too.

My best rejection ever has officially become my second best. I had submitted two short stories to an editor for a project and both had been rejected. Then, lo & behold, last friday (two months after rejection) I get an email from him detailing exactly what’s wrong with one of the stories and here’s what I need to work on if I want to submit future work. Completely out of the blue, this was.

WOOT! Gotta love good feedback! This is now officially my favorite rejection. Top of the list. I am so thrilled. @=) So now I’m going over my story with a fine tooth comb and taking complete advantage of the learning experience.

Yes, I am a strange girl who revels in rejections. At least, I revel when they’re obviously personal notes instead of form rejections.

Life is definitely getting better. Now if the stock market would just go up so I could have enough fundage to pay for fun stuff at the Olympics next year.
